Phoenix Fahrenheit

In 2018, the PGFFL sent a team to compete in the Women’s+ Division of Gay Bowl for the very first time in Denver. Since then, the Phoenix Fahrenheit program has continued to grow – both in size and profile – representing the PGFFL at every Gay Bowl since!

In 2023, Phoenix Fahrenheit expanded to two teams – Phoenix Fahrenheit Gold and Phoenix Fahrenheit Blue. Both teams brought the heat to Gay Bowl in Seattle! Blue battled to the C Division semifinals, while Gold finished in the top eight teams in the tournament. Both teams have since competed at Sin City in Las Vegas, with Gold finishing as the tournament runner-up, and Gold also played in Sunshine Cup in Florida, having the honor of being the first team to ever represent Phoenix at this tournament.

The success of Phoenix Fahrenheit since 2018 has inspired a record number of Women’s+ players to join the PGFFL, as well as the creation of a dedicated Women’s+ Division. Phoenix Fahrenheit also looks to expand to a third team in 2024. The PGFFL can’t wait to see what Gay Bowl Austin brings for our sizzling hot Women’s+ competitors!

Policies

Phoenix Gay Flag Football League - Travel Policies
Updated 1/29/2025

  • Travel "season" will run from March - March. Rosters and captains will be set by the end of March, and team rosters will be in place for all subsequent tournaments until the next tryouts (including but not limited to Phoenix Valley Classic, Pride Cup, Gay Bowl, Sin City Classic & Sunshine Cup).

  • Rosters are set to form 15-18 players.

  • If a tournament limits the number of teams that can participate per city, registration priority will be given to teams in order of their most recent Gay Bowl final divisional ranking (A, B, C, etc.).

  • The board may appoint temporary captain(s) for a single tournament if needed (i.e. enough players want to play but captain is unable/unwilling to organize/attend).

  • Players must be on an official Fahrenheit or Wildfire roster to participate in a tournament.

  • The higher divisional ranked Gay Bowl team is able to utilize players from the lower divisional ranked Fahrenheit or Wildfire rosters if needed, upon approval from the Director of Tournament & Travel and Commissioner.

  • If there is interest from players in playing with another Fahrenheit or Wildfire team at a tournament their team is not going to, captains are encouraged but not required to pick up these players. Any combining of teams should be done in coordination with the Director of Tournament & Travel, who should also support captains in being clear about playing time.

  • If a captain inquires about adding a player for an individual tournament that is not already on a roster, the Director of Tournament & Travel and Commissioner may approve based on team size, positional need and/or other extenuating circumstances. However, the player must have participated in a PGFFL season prior.

The PGFFL Board of Directors reserves the right to exercise its discretion in making exceptions or modifications to these policies as circumstances require, in the best interest of the PGFFL.
